Does Tri-state handle domain registration ?

Yes, for FREE. We will contact the InterNIC once your account is activated to request either a new domain name registration or transfer. You do NOT need to submit a registration or modification template to the InterNIC as this will only delay your request. Return To Top of Page

Can I transfer existing domain name to Tri-state?

Yes. A number of our customers have transferred domains to our service. Whether you place an order by telephone or via our online order form, be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain. Return To Top of Page

What is the InterNIC fee for domain registration ?

The InterNIC charges $70 to register a new domain name. This fee covers the first two years. They currently bill at a rate of $30 per year. The InterNIC will send you an invoice via email between 3 weeks to 1-1/2 months after the domain is registered. Return To Top of Page

Is 1000/MB of data transfer going to be enough to support my web site ?

Our experience has shown that 1000MB/month will be more than enough bandwidth for the average web site. Depending on the quantity and sizes of your files, this could support many thousands of hits per month. Note that only 1%-2% of our customers have exceeded the 1000MB of data transfer threshold. How do I transfer files to my web site ?

Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP). If you have a PPP internet account and would like free FTP software, you can download it from Ipswitch. Browsers such as Netscape or Internet Explorer provide a built-in FTP interface and web publisher.  You may also Use MS Frontpage as your web client. Return To Top of Page

Will I have unlimited access to update my pages ?

You have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure. Return To Top of Page

Can multiple domains point to the same HTML files ?

How long does it take to set up a new account ?

Orders are typically processed within 24-48 hours. We will provide you with a temporary address to use for testing until the Internic processes your domain. The Internic can take anywhere from 2 Days to two weeks to process a domain request. Once Internic has processed the request, your account is set up and an activation notice will be sent you via email including a userid, password, and FTP hostname. The Internet's rapid growth has presented us with a tremendous new way of communicating. Often, when something original such as the Internet arrives, we find new words that need defining. Although we will speak with you in plain English instead of cybertalk, there are some basic Internet related terms you should be aware of:

HTML Programming is the language of the Internet; every document on the Net is HTML format.

CGI Programming is the high-end programming language for the Internet. If you want to do interactive forms (questionnaire, comments or order) then CGI programming is required.

ShockWave Programming is one of the newest multi-media applications on the Internet allowing animation, motion and interactive graphics on your Web Page.

Applets - Think of Applets as mini- programs that let you run animation and video clips without having the software on your computer (they are also called plug-in's). This means that everybody, regardless of the type of computer they have, will be able to view computer animation clips with their Web Browsers.
